Safety First

At Genie in a Bottle, we believe nature is powerful—and should always be used with care.

Our essential oils are highly concentrated botanical extracts. A single bottle may represent kilograms of flowers, leaves, bark, wood or resin, making these oils far more potent than the plants they come from. When used correctly, they become beautiful additions to your daily rituals. When used carelessly, they may cause irritation or discomfort.

Please take a few moments to read these safety guidelines before using any essential oil.

General Guidelines

• Always read the directions provided on each product.

• Essential oils are for external and aromatic use unless specifically stated otherwise.

• Never apply essential oils directly into the eyes, ears or other sensitive areas.

• Keep all products out of reach of children and pets.

• Store bottles tightly closed in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.

• Use only the recommended amount. More is not always better.

Patch Test Before First Use

Everyone's skin is unique.

Before applying any essential oil or blend to a larger area, perform a patch test.

Apply a small diluted amount to the inside of your forearm and wait 24 hours.

If redness, irritation or discomfort develops, discontinue use.

Topical Application

Many essential oils should be diluted before being applied to the skin.

We recommend using a carrier oil such as Jojoba, Apricot Kernel, Sesame or Argan Oil before topical application, particularly if you have sensitive skin or are using an oil for the first time.

Avoid applying essential oils to broken, inflamed or irritated skin.

Wash your hands thoroughly after use.

Diffusing Essential Oils

Diffuse in a well-ventilated room.

Begin with a small number of drops and shorter diffusion sessions, especially if children, elderly individuals or pets are present.

If anyone experiences discomfort, stop diffusing and ventilate the room.

Citrus Oils & Sun Exposure

Some citrus essential oils may increase the skin's sensitivity to sunlight.

After applying citrus oils to exposed skin, avoid direct sunlight or UV exposure for at least 12 hours, or follow the instructions provided on the product label.

Pregnancy & Medical Conditions

If you are pregnant, breastfeeding, have epilepsy, asthma, high blood pressure, are undergoing medical treatment or have any chronic health condition, consult your healthcare professional before using essential oils.

If you are taking prescription medications, seek professional advice before introducing essential oils into your routine.

Children

Essential oils are highly concentrated and children require much lower amounts than adults.

Always use under adult supervision and keep bottles securely stored out of their reach.

Around Pets

Animals experience aromas much more intensely than humans.

When diffusing around pets, ensure the room is well ventilated and that your pet can leave the area freely if they choose.

Do not apply essential oils directly to pets unless under the guidance of a qualified veterinary professional.

If Irritation Occurs

Stop using the product immediately.

Wash the affected area with a carrier oil before gently cleansing with soap and water.

If irritation persists or is severe, seek medical advice promptly.

Product Quality

Every Genie in a Bottle essential oil is carefully selected from trusted growers and distilled to preserve the natural character of the plant.

Because these are natural botanical products, slight variations in colour, aroma and consistency from one harvest to another are completely normal and reflect nature rather than inconsistency.

Our Promise

We believe responsible aromatherapy begins with honesty.

Our products are designed to complement moments of relaxation, self-care and mindful living. They are not intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease, and should never replace professional medical advice.

Use them thoughtfully, respect their strength, and let nature do what it does best.

A small suggestion for consistency

For best aroma and therapeutic quality, we recommend using within 24 months of opening when stored correctly. Citrus oils may have a shorter shelf life.
